240 million years in the making, the East Devon Pebblebed HeathS
are amongst the most highly regarded conservation sites in Europe.

The Pebblebed Heaths Conservation Trust aims to ensure the heath’s valuable, yet vulnerable, ecosystem is properly protected; that all wildlife associated with the heathland flourishes, public access is protected, responsible public enjoyment of the heaths is maintained and that environmental education is promoted.

Without careful management heathland can deteriorate into scrub, and this valuable open habitat, with its rare animal and plant life, would be lost.
